An international primary school needed native foreigner english teachers
Start time : Fall semester 2020
Grade 4 or 5 science/math/social studies teacher is a member of the ES academic team. The
teacher will deliver the SIBS science/math and Social Studies curriculum to upper elementary students
and will work alongside the other team members to fulfil the school’s Mission for this aspect of the
school’s curriculum. SIBS employs NGSS Science Standards, US Common Core Math standards and
utilizes the Engage New York program and uses AERO standards for Social Studies. The emphasis in
grade 4 is in depth study of China.
Primary Responsibilities
To plan, resource, and deliver lessons for identified classes of pupils, in accordance with School and
departmental expectations and requirements
Establish and maintain an appropriate classroom environment - utilizing the Kagan Cooperative Learning
approaches for classroom management
Assess students at the beginning of and throughout the year and group them accordingly
Assist in the development and extension of the current science/maths/social studies curriculum
Design and execute termly and weekly science/maths/social studies lesson plans upon approval from
the Supervisor
Create and adapt science/maths/social studies materials and activities to supplement the current
syllabus and ultimately ensure a curriculum that encompasses best practice principles
Monitor and evaluate students' academic progress through up-to-date records of the students’ daily
work, homework and valuable alternative and other assessment practices
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior - Kagan Cooperative Approach to teaching and
learning
Collaborate with lead teachers to ensure a unified teaching approach and understanding of students'
academic and social growth
Assign and mark weekly science/maths homework and follow up with students, lead teachers and/or
parents if work is not being completed on time
Write science/maths comments for school report cards (twice a year)
Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences and respond to parents' questions or concerns as they arise
(this process should always be documented in students’ classroom files)
Attend curriculum overview evenings for parents as required
Take on playground and/or lunch duties as required
Provide support to the school community as a whole
Other duties, as assigned by school.
