Avenues Shenzhen opened in August 2018, our first campus in China. Avenues Shenzhen provides a unique early childhood program, and is now expanding to serve students in all grades from grades from toddler through 12. Avenues Shenzhen furthers Avenues’ longstanding commitment to developing multiple campuses in China, providing a transformative, world-focused education.
AVENUES EXTENSIONS
Many of the world’s greatest scientists, artists, athletes, and mathematicians got their starts early, while exploring and learning outside of the formal school day. The Extensions Department exists to develop the next generation of game-changers through an ecosystem of transformational learning experiences that connects campuses, accelerates learning, and makes the Avenues experience unique through after school and school break camp programs. These learning experiences take place outside of the formal school day: after school, on weekends, and during school breaks. Common to all these programs is that students enroll by choice, seeking to excel in their unique skills and interests.
About the Role
Entrepreneurial educators, relationship-builders, and strong program operators will excel as the Director of Extensions. The Director of Extensions is responsible for leading the Avenues Shenzhen team in the planning and execution of after school and school break programs to ensure that families are delighted, programs are fully enrolled, and that students’ lives are transformed. Specifically, you will:
Negotiate with external partners and manage teachers to ensure the highest quality experience for our families in areas where Avenues can uniquely excel.
Maintain excellent program quality through trainings, class observations, and feedback.
Lead the launch and operation of after school classes and holiday camps so that they meet enrollment targets and operate on time, within budget, and are world-class.
Build strong relationships with families at all age levels so that they feel supported, listened to, and excited by our programs.
Identify and act on market opportunities based on a deep understanding of the user experience and develop corresponding programs through pilots and iteration.
Effectively lead a small, adaptive team while also working individually on projects to ensure the highest levels of quality.
Maintain excellent communication and responsiveness so as to align local program operations with the global strategy.
Support additional Global Extensions programs and projects as needed so as to have a global impact.
Navigate the Chinese regulatory environment in developing programs and support communication with the Education Bureau.
About You
WHAT YOU BRING
Led complex projects and operations within a school environment.
Taught students in formal or informal educational environments. Experience managing or training teachers is a plus.
Developed a program, project, or product based on a deep understanding of what the audience values.
Developed a marketing or communications plan so as to achieve enrollment goals.
Fostered relationships with families in an independent school environment using both Chinese and English.
Collaborated and triangulated with multiple members of a senior leadership team in a matrix organization.
Applied analytical skills to evaluate options and make difficult decisions in ambiguous situations.
Persuaded peers and leadership to adopt a particular course of action.
