The ideal candidate must be a native English speaker with advanced or higher Chinese and experience in English-Chinese translation. They must be comfortable with explaining complex scientific and technical concepts in simple language, able to transcreate as well as translate literally, and ready to take on deadline-driven projects. This position will require simultaneous work on different types of documentation for different products, so organization and versatility are a must.
Primary Responsibilities:
Translating content for:
Product and feature descriptions
Installation and configuration guides
White papers
Marketing materials and press releases
Technical Specifications
Market and product research
Frequent communication with a diverse map of stakeholders (in both Chinese and English)
Information architecture, focusing on intuitive structure for a variety of different formats
Support proposal development and other internal and client-facing documentation
Qualifications and Skills:
Advanced or higher Chinese reading and writing skills
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Computer Science, or relevant experience
Native English speaker, with a strong grasp of grammar and controlled language
A strong translation portfolio (please include 1–2 translation samples with your application)
Able to work independently and under pressure
Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
Ability to strictly abide by style guides and translate for a specific audience
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills:
1–2 years of translation experience (in-house or agency are both okay)
Familiarity with dedicated translation software, especially SDL Trados
Strong understanding of IT, telecom, and/or consumer technology industries
