WESSCO International is currently seeking a Senior Product Designer to join its Asia regional headquarters, based in Shanghai.
Responsibilities
Support the company's design team to create branded products for global travel industry in collaboration with world-class brand houses in luxury (e.g. Ferragamo, Hermes, Bvlgari), cosmetics (e.g. LaPrairie, Clarins, Kiehl’s), and designers (e.g. Philippe Starck)
Coordinate and work with the design team to create collateral materials (presentations, proposals, etc) for sales & marketing support
Collaborate with world-class brand houses in luxury (e.g. Ferragamo, Hermes, Bvlgari), and cosmetics (e.g. LaPrairie, Clarins, Kiehl’s), to create branded products for global travel industry
Develop annual private-label product collections, based on trend research
Design products for customer-specific projects, working closely with company’s sourcing team and various manufacturing partners
Manage and coordinate internal creative team of designers and interns, reporting to the company's Creative Director
Maintain and grow network of external freelancers and creative consultants for special projects
Manage WESSCO brand identity, working closely with the company's Creative Director
Establish consistency in methods and practices (i.e. implement and maintain SOPs)
Ensure that physical prototypes conform to design requirements
Plan and organize annual trade shows in Europe and Middle East (booth layout, products presentation, communication, etc)
Required skills
English: fluent or native level
Product and/or accessory/bag design (with degree in product design/fashion design) showing work experience in:
Vector illustration (Adobe Illustrator or equivalent)
Raster imaging (Adobe Photoshop or equivalent)
Desktop Publishing: basic page layouts and preparing documents for print (Adobe Indesign or equivalent)
Freehand illustration and sketching ability
3D modeling (Rhino, CAD, Sketchup or equivalent) **desirable but not required
Desired qualities
Knowledge of top brands for luxury, fashion and cosmetics
An eye for color and material combination
Awareness of trends in international design (fashion, interiors, product design, styles, colors, etc.)
A positive, “can-do” attitude: determination to overcome obstacles and find solutions to problems
A strong work ethic, ability to work independently, but also leadership-oriented
Rigorous attention to details (dates, measurements, sizes, colors, words/spelling, formatting)
Ability to execute instructions thoroughly
