Inntex is seeking a Fashion Designer / Customer Sales Consultant [Textiles & Garments] to join its team in Shanghai.
The ideal candidate must be a fluent Spanish speaker.
The team is looking for an experienced professional, textile designer/developer, foreigner or local to work in Inntex's Shanghai development and production office. As an experienced fashion designer/product developer, your main task will be separated into two aspects:
1) Define trend and seasonal textile/garment collection development
2) Support and improve local/international sales and customer development
Inntex aims to be a full-service supplier to the fashion industry. Its team wants to provide its clients with a personal service and support that matches the family-owned and operated style of the company.
As a Textile Fashion Development Coordinator, you must manage and support the development and design team in China and abroad to create seasonal, trendy and functional fabrics, paying close attention to trends and technical developments in the global fashion industry.
In addition, you must support specific customer development and sales for Inntex's small local and large global fashion house customers in China. This support will be sample and solution development, trend and analysis and customer design support and service. You'll recommend products to customers based on their needs and interests, while supporting the customer sales process. The two of these main job tasks will define a critical position within the product creation team, requiring critical thinking, micro- and macro- understanding, analysis and the ability to clearly communicate internally and externally.
Responsibilities
Support the global development product team (designers in S. America and local China staff) developing designs, textiles and garments
Maintain daily communication with product assistants in South America and global designer team – global liaison
Organize and follow up product developments in Asia with local designers and development team members
Handle, organize and maintain all sample material, testing and logistic communication moving between Asia and South America
Drive development and creation of new textile designs through organic and inorganic means, sample collection and trend following
Visit all the applicable expositions within Asia, summarize and condense important exhibition information into usable data
Contact and establish new suppliers while maintaining current supplier relationships
Support customer analysis, global fashion trends and requirements into usable data for product development
Find innovative techniques, explore new trends and help define direction of new markets
Determine, analyze and define quality standards or translate customer requirements to design developments and merchandisers
Support sales team to define solutions for customer and expected service standard
Requirements
Must speak Spanish fluently (prefer native Spanish speaker)
Greater than five (5) years of similar or relatable experience, sales, product development or design in women’s fashion
Intimate knowledge or fashion industry in textile or garment development or production process, preferably a considerable (>2 years) experience working in China
Love of fashion or demonstration of fashion knowledge or textile knowledge combined with demonstrated creative talent
Project management or organized, multi-functional work experience, preferably international with some years of work experience in China and outside of China
The position requires an extroverted, confident personality who likes people and enjoys working with them — you need to be a natural at developing professional relationships, and should be observant and persuasive
Self-starter, organized, attention to detail, deadline-oriented, hands-on
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressure
4-year university degree or equivalent in fashion design, fashion merchandising or relatable expertise (substitution of this requirement can only be through clear and concise demonstration of direct, similar experience)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Chinese or other foreign language helpful
Some local and possibly international travel required (10-20%)
Adobe Photoshop/illustrator experience, design or creative software, plus Microsoft Office
Textile/garment manufacturing process and quality understanding
Report to Global Design Manager, interacting with entire Asia office departments, especially sales
Overtime as required but generally not expected
Work hours – Monday through Friday as required to complete job description
