Urban Art Projects is seeking a Senior Associate – Art & Design to join its team in Shanghai.
The position of Senior Associate is primarily a leadership role within the Art & Design team. The successful applicant will be comfortable managing projects individually as well as within a team as well as fostering a strong internal creative culture. They will play a role supporting the Business Development team at key client meetings as well as having the ability to manage quality across all facets of the process, from concept generation to fabrication. The Art & Design team is a vital component in UAP’s ability to successful deliver creative visions for a wide range of architectural projects. Applicants will be passionate about the industry at large. Importantly, they will also have a strong desire to work collaboratively with & for, a variety of creative professionals including but not limited External Curators, Artists, Designers and Built Environment Practitioners.
It's not necessarily to have direct knowledge or experience with the arts industry but should have 10 years minimum experience in the fields of either architecture or design. Urban Art Projects is searching for a candidate who is looking to make a long term commitment. (3-5 years )
Responsibilities
Business Development Support
Attend briefings with Business Development (BD) team to assess project opportunities and identify projects which require design or curatorial involvement
Undertake research, benchmarking, vision workshops, etc.
Collaborate with BD to develop conceptual direction of sales responses
Assist in the development of targeted/tailored sales responses
Assist in the development, review and update of relevant support documents
Project Planning
Collaborate internally to develop project programs
Develop initial project delivery methodology and program
Artist/Designer/Architect Liaison
Help source and procure appropriate artists/designers/architects
Develop Artist/Designer Briefs and assist briefing sessions
Assist in the management of artist contractual relationships on behalf of the client/UAP throughout entire artwork commissioning process
Collaborate with artists through commissioning process
Lead Design
Manage multiple in-house design & artist/architect driven projects with multiple clients
Ability to collaborate with Australian and American Studio & Workshop
Review client brief; decide project design direction
Provide other team members with clear project brief
Lead project team in a collaborative manner identifying ideas and solutions
Produce imaginative design ideas for further development by project team
Set and review specific project milestones for design deliverables
Drive in-house design solutions as well as artist/architectural concepts through schematic design and developed design process
Collaborate with consultants (architects, engineers, etc.) in order to develop design and artworks.
Attend design presentation and present if required
Travel within china to client briefings, presentations, etc.
Manage quality and review prototypes and fabrication where necessary on particular projects
Review and assist UAP project managers throughout the fabrication and installation process to ensure quality is meeting the necessary required integrity of creative outcomes.
