It belongs to People’s Daily, one of the world’s ten biggest newspapers. People’s Daily Online – which is publicly owned – belongs to the biggest internet portals worldwide.
The German department is looking for a new editor in its Beijing office. The position starts in March 2018.
Main tasks:
- Editing of the German texts that were produced by the Chinese colleagues
- Translation of texts from Chinese and/or English into German
- Production of own texts (articles, commentaries about hot issues, blogs etc.) as well as video and audio features
- Interviewing diplomats, business people, scientists, artists and so on – also in front of the camera in the TV studio
- Taking care of the website’s social media channels (Facebook and Twitter)
Requirements:
- University diploma, preferably in one of the following fields: Sinology, German philology, journalism, communication and media science or translation studies
- In case of a bachelor diploma two years of work experience are needed (applicants with experience in the media or PR sector are preferred)
- Perfect German language skills (both written and oral)
- Translation competency in either English or Chinese
- Interest in Chinese culture and willingness to work together with Chinese colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure
- Team player
