| As a Lead Content Developer, you will be responsible for managing a team of writ...As a Lead Content Developer, you will be responsible for managing a team of writers tasked with researching, creating, updating and archiving technical and marketing documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of writers to accurately and effectively output high-quality documentation deliverables- this includes their training
• Develop and manage original content by working with subject matter experts as well as other source materials, and in accordance with departmental processes and writing standards
• Ensure the quality of the content through reviews and validation procedures including, but not limited to, internal reviews as well as software applications.
• Communicate with project stakeholders as to the time management required to deliver projects. Monitor the hours spent against the project budget and communicate anticipated overages, changes in schedules, changes in project scope, and adjust priorities accordingly
• Work with technical illustrator(s) to develop graphical content for the documentation
• Use your knowledge and experience to improve our current processes and methodologies
Key Competencies:
• Either Native-level English or strong working proficiency
• Strong leadership skills and organizational skills
• Excellent writing skills with strengths in creating original content in plain English, as well as an ability to engage in transcreation tasks such as high-level editing
• Able to learn, absorb, and respond to new information and processes rapidly with minimal delay
• Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects, including processes such as project planning, content creation and review, and project delivery —with minimal supervision and to strict deadlines
• Ability to create both technical and marketing documentation
• Working knowledge of authoring based tools such as Adobe Framemaker, In Design, and Professional, as well as MS Office applications such as Project and Word
• An understanding of topic-based authoring, DITA, deployment requirements, configuration management and document control, and a strong grasp of process knowledge
• Familiarity with information design, information architecture, training material development, illustration/graphic design, website design and software/hardware user interfaces
• Understanding or experience with the medical market, products, and regulations
Education and Exprience:
• A BS/BA in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, Communication, or related field with a strong emphasis on writing
• (Preferred) 3-5 years experience in a management or leadership role
• (Preferred) 3-5 years relevant experience in writing technical documentation
• (Preferred) Deep understanding of DITA / XML methodologies
• (Preferred) experience in a technical position – mechanical, electrical, software - or service technician
