JOB GOAL: Work as an active member of the Secondary School Office team to provide administrative support to Design Technology Team.
Functional Relationships: Secondary School Principal, Secondary School Deputy Principal, Design Technology Team Leader, Teachers, Administration Staff, Students, and Parents.
General Duties:
• Liase with school purchasing department for preparation of orders for materials and resources for the department
• Communicate with PM regarding issues which need resolving
• Regularly maintain all machinery within the department (frequency detailed in maintenance log)
• Keep all workshops, classrooms, stores and entrance hallway tidy
• Prepare classroom resources
• Complete any other tasks as assigned by the Principals or Head of School.
Requisite Skills and Responsibilities:
• Be able to learn and adapt to changing needs of staff and students
• Maintain records of all orders placed by the department
• Communicate with Purchasing Officer to ensure the best possible prices for resources
• Recording presentations and documenting work in and out of the classroom
• Assisting students with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and ensuring that students are on task and able to access the tutorials for help
• Alerting teacher of any students they notice require assistance
• Cutting and preparing materials prior to lessons
• Updating stock which is low in all classrooms (materials, foam-board, card, general stationary, adhesives etc.)
• Ensuring all machinery in DT lab is fully operational and safe
• Ensuring the machine and materials room is maintained to a high standard as required under the BCIS health and safety policy
• Ensuring all materials are regularly checked and a stock list of all materials is maintained when materials are used from the store room
• Ensuring the machines are hazard free and safe to walk around in the storage room area
• All materials are cut to an acceptable level of accuracy for students to use
• Ensure materials are all stored in a safe and tidy manner
• Operate and CAD/CAM Machinery
• Being able to use and maintain the Laser Cutter effectively and use the program Adobe Illustrator, in order to assist and show students how to use the machine correctly including how to prepare the laser cutter machine before cutting the material required
• Maintaining and supervising the students while use the laser cutter machine
• Ensuring the filter of the laser cutting machine is functioning correctly
• Building a good working relationship with the learning support and assisting them in creating resources for a variety of learners within the Design area
Health & Safety:
• Should hold a certificate which shows that the technician has attended and completed a health and safety course on machinery used in resistant materials area
