Responsibilities:

English Writer/Editor:

• Create written English copy for use in BCIS advertising, web-based material and other promotional areas
• Act as a “journalist” for BCIS, reporting on all kinds of news and information designed to raise awareness of both the school and its educational program
• Edit and proofread written English copy produced by other BCIS staff members for whole-school, grade level or wider communications to the school community and beyond
• Maintain the school’s English language social media (WeChat, Facebook, Blog, Website), producing varied copy written in the BCIS style
• Maintain, update and promote the BCIS writing style, including the Style Guide for use in Communications
• Support the Communications Division in other duties not limited to the responsibilities of Writer/Editor and Media Relations that facilitates a broader understanding and appreciation of BCIS.

English Media Relations Coordinator:

• Regularly communicate and liaise with the English media channels
• Help promote the school and its successes by including news, stories and interest pieces in local media outlets
• Maintain BCIS presence and visibility in online and printed directories
• Maintain good relations with local media including editors, correspondents, freelance writers etc
• Explore new channels to promote BCIS in media both local, national and international
• Help formulate media strategy to help promote BCIS and tell the school’s story





Requirements and qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess:

1. Excellent English writing skills, outstanding command of English - Native English speaker
2. The ability to handle multiple projects quickly and efficiently.
3. A solid knowledge of journalism or public communications.
4. Comfort with working in a face-paced, multi-cultural environment that is in growth stage of the organization.
5. Pro-active, innovative and discretion.
6. A desire to be in an educational environment.
7. Humor
8. Hold a bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in writing/editing or public communications
9. Good oral and written mandarin preferred but not essential
10. An understanding of the local market would be an advantage
