We are looking for an enthusiastic tutor with expertise in post-secondary entry level economics. This job is part of a pre-departure course that is designed for preparing Chinese international students ready for North American universities both in daily life and academics. As a tutor, you are hired for teaching a pre-designed economics lecture for a small group of students, your role will be focused on teaching, in class communication and feedback.
Job Description:
• Provide instruction of Economics courses in accordance with established course materials
• Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff and students
• Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of Chinese international students through careful preparation of course materials (lecture slides is provided), effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions
• In class interaction with students is key
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
• Be able to participate in curriculum development, design, implementation and evaluation to maintain and improve the instructional programs
Job Requirements:
• Master's or Bachelor degree in Economics preferred
• English as first language is preferred
• 3-5 years' tutoring experience teaching young adults in an academic setting
• Experience teaching non-native English-speaking students at varying levels of English language proficiency
• Experience teaching abroad (China experience a plus) and interacting cross-culturally
• Teaching assistant experience is an asset
