Position: Communications and Development Coordinator (full time)
Shangri-la Institute for Sustainable Communities is seeking a full-time employee, based in our Beijing office, to lead our communications and fundraising strategy

Organization Background:
The Shangri-la Institute for Sustainable Communities (SISC) is a registered independent Chinese NGO which traces its roots to Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, where in 1996 key staff members started work on nature conservation and community development projects. We support community-initiated education, conservation and cultural projects that empower local communities to engage in sustainable development.

Location: Based in our Beijing Office with occasional travel to Shangri-la, other areas of China, and abroad for international conferences.
Contract: 2 years with possibility of extension

Job Responsibilities include:
Coordinating the implementation of our communication and fundraising strategy through:
o Writing project proposals, reports and updates
o Finding new fundraising opportunities

o Editing and Translating
o Developing and editing website content

o Coordinating with project members and donors
o Designing and developing communication materials such as brochures, posters etc.

o Strengthening links with partners
o Assistance with other project components

Requirements:
o Native English speaker
o Excellent English writing skills (academic standard)

o Advanced ability to speak and read Chinese

o Computer skills, including Microsoft office and Adobe software (especially inDesign)

o Ability to work independently and on own initiative

o Ability to work in a team and in a multicultural setting
o Excellent organizational skills

o Dedication to working in the NGO/not for profit sector


Desirable:
o Knowledge of sustainable development, environmental conservation, and education
o Design skills including experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

Remuneration
o Valuable experience of and exposure to NGO and development work in China

o Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience

o Support and documentation for processing work visa

o Annual return flight home and health insurance
