• Have a detailed knowledge of the relevant aspects of the English National Curriculum, Character Education and/or Chinese Curriculum, and other requirements, known as the YCIS International Curriculum.

• Cope securely with subject-related questions which pupils raise and know about pupils’ common misconceptions and mistakes in their specialist area / subject(s).

Planning and setting expectations:
• Identify clear teaching objectives, content, lesson structures and sequences appropriate to the subject matter and the pupils being taught.
• Set appropriate and demanding expectations for pupils’ learning and motivation. Set clear targets for pupils' learning, building on prior attainment and experiences.
• Identify pupils who have special educational needs and are gifted and talented, and know where to get assistance in order to give positive and targeted support. Where applicable, implement and keep records on Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Teaching and managing pupil learning:
• Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and effective use is made of teaching time.
• Use teaching methods which keep pupils engaged, including stimulating pupils’ intellectual curiosity, effective questioning and response, clear presentation and good use of resources, including technology.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Be fully familiar with primary teaching syllabus, and have a good understanding of the overall curriculum of the School.
• Plan courses and lessons individually and in collaboration with other teachers if necessary, so that all aspects of the syllabus are covered adequately.
• Teach according to students’ educational needs, including requirements of setting and marking of assigned work on a regular basis.
• Assess and report on the academic and social development, progress and attainment of students.
• Accept that in a school, all teachers are collectively responsible for the safety and good conduct of all students at all times, both when they are authorized to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorized school activities outside school.
• Coordinate and participate in extra curricular activities, camps and school visits, and support other functions arranged by the Yew Chung Foundation.
• hold a valid teaching certificate and have more than 2 years full-time teaching experience.
